There are so many ways to set your intention for the day, I’m going to share with you how I do this Here’s why, the intentions you set in the morning can fully impact your day. I’ve always wondered how some people can get up 15-20 minutes before they get in there car to leave for work and have a productive day that is focused on their goals. I have to say I completely respect that, I mean for reals, because I am a cluster if I don’t have my daily prep time. Thank God, I am an early bird! Yes, seriously I am thanking God when I say that, because I treasure my mornings and my God blessed me with being a person that can rise and shine pretty darn early. Oh yes, and God is also funny because, I woke up this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday at 6:19 am with the dog wrapped around my head. You’ve got to wonder…
Okay, on to the ways I set my intention for the day….similar to my post about the 7 ways to start your day positively but more detail about my morning method.
Why go into more detail?
I got to thinking the other day after a sermon at my church, Hosanna Lutheran in Lakeville, I love Hosanna, that our purpose is to find a way to impact the world with our message. I am committed to do that with my book, Maze of Thorns to share the message of God’s love and hope and through this blog through sharing ways to impact the body and soul. We are all built for one common purpose, to make disciples of all nations and defeat the enemy. What does that look like for you? I will shock you for a second with a statistic I learned yesterday at church, the average person has 80,000 points of connection with other people. If we just think about what that means for a second, I believe we would all be able to set our intentions for the day to have a positive impact on the world.
How to Set Your Intention for the Day
Ah, there are so many ways. Just like the 20 plus years of my fitness background, you find a fitness program that you enjoy and it works for you, you do the same with this. I would like to share with you a method, I started that has been amazing. I plan to actually create a My Healthy Angel Peach Journal, but until then, you can do what I do, just do it on a pretty notebook.
After I wake up and get my morning jug of lemon water, vitamins, BCAA’s and Glutamine, feed and take care of Louie (my 11 month old Bichon Frise), it’s Peace Journal Time.
Peace Journal Basics
Set the Intention for my Yoga Practice
This is all about as I start my yoga practice, setting the intention for the day. Acknowledging any negative thoughts that will not add value to the day ahead of me and through my yoga practice acknowledging them and letting them go. Then, creating a new intention for the day, one that will serve me, my goals and the world. The enemy wants us to be dragged down by lack of confidence and doubts, when we acknowledge the negative and set a new intention we defeat the enemy and embrace God’s power to direct our steps. It’s cool, trust me.
Prayer and Devotion – Soul Nourishment – #1 because #1!
Step Two of my Peace Journal is 20 minutes of Prayer and Devotion. Not for you, just meditate then, while you do something physically active. It’s possible, walk the dog and be quiet with your thoughts, run or do cardio, anything works where there are not background words because you need to hear the message you are receiving. Every day in my “Peace Journal” I write down “Prayer/Devotion” then “God’s Message for Me Today”. What has astounded me is, as I’ve cleared my mind and spent this time in prayer, every day, God has revealed a very specific message to me that has guided my day.
Training and Learning – Mind Nourishment
Whether you are a CEO, new mom, husband, new author, marketing director, surgeon, fitness instructor or whatever, I trust you are doing ongoing personal development to enhance your skills, 20 minutes are spent in this area. My day job is an Image Consultant for Good Look Ink so I do Grant Cardone Training 5 days a week. And even more importantly, I am a Christian Author and I am so proud to share God’s message of hope in my book, Maze of Thorns, so I do alot of training to in the morning to learn this whole world of book marketing and blogging. Not easy for a non-millennial!
Good Nutrition – Body Nourishment
I start my day with berries (blueberries/strawberries/blackberries), lemon water, BCAA’s and Glutamine and a Vegan Protein Shake. More on nutrition as the blog unfolds, but I am big, big, big on listening to your body. If it sounds extremely good to you to eat something, then it must be in sync with your body. What I mean here is, fruit and a protein shake sound great to me early in the morning, heavy eggs and oatmeal do not. If I have oats, it’s more like 10 or 11 am. Feed your body what works for you. Not a free pass for Cinnamon Rolls, ya know what I mean!
The Wrap Up
I’m wrapping up to hit the sack, loved sharing this and I truly hoped it helped you in some way. There are so many talented people out there blogging, it’s sometimes overwhelming to “find your voice”, but it really is a gift if you can pray and hear the response and direction. It might change tomorrow, but for today, this is what I’ve got. Have a great day and if you have a deck or patio, I strongly suggest taking your yoga outside this summer. Here is what my dog thought of it this morning, our first time out!
